2017 JIExpo Criterium

They say that some things are better late than never.  So here goes…

The third installment of JIExpo’s international criterium was held this last April at PRJ Kemayoran.  Jakarta’s cycling community along with our two-wheeled brothers and sisters from around Indonesia (Surabaya represent!) came out in full-force to participate and support one another.

This year’s event continued the unique indoor/outdoor format that was so well-received in 2016, and featured some top-end talent from the men and women of the Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, and Singaporean national teams.  Worthy of note was the presence of Christian Meier, ex-Orica Greenedge world tour rider, who took the time to not only ride with us mere mortals, but more importantly share some of the finer points of his invaluable experience riding as a humble domestic at the highest level of our beloved sport of cycling.

Have a look at the photos below to see either what you missed or to re-live those glorious memories….

KGB was out in full force with several teams and a whole lot of moxie.

It was an impressive sight to see amateurs and pro's mixing it up in the women's race.  Some truly inspiring performances were had.

The fabulous ladies of  Zid Ladies

Some hard-working women of Surabaya.....great job ladies!

An enlightening and thoroughly enjoyable discussion with Christian Meier on his life as a world-tour rider and his approach to training.

Our friends from the Thai national team.  Humble and hard-working, wonderful sportsmanship!

Indonesian national team riders.  Keep up the hard work guys!  For sure continued success in the future!

No surprise to see these guys on the podium!  But they still had to work hard!

Dream team in action.....

Race in action.

Until next time!
